So I saw this haul review, yeah? And this person was rocking some “Balenciaga” tights… but they were unbranded. They were straight up saying, “Look, I’m not spending THAT kinda money, so I’m gonna pretend these are the real deal.” And honestly? I *get* it. Who wouldn’t wanna sport some of those iconic looks without, you know, remortgaging your house?
That reminds me of scrolling through eBay the other day. The amount of “Balenciaga” stuff… some of it *is* real, used, for a good price, but you gotta watch out for the fakes, I’ll tell ya. You can find anything from backpacks to, like, pre-owned Strike Boots (which, let’s be honest, are kinda cool looking). The RealReal is another place to check out, they do all the authentication, which is a relief, but even then, they will show signs of wear and tear.
But back to the tights. It’s like, is it wrong to rock the look without the label? I dunno, man. On one hand, it kinda feels like you’re trying to be something you’re not. On the other hand, if it looks good, feels good, and doesn’t break the bank… why not? People are out here buying 3XL tees from ZC (judging by the “QC WITH MEASUREMENTS” thing I saw), and some even buy the real thing… so it’s like, what’s the difference?
The thing is, Balenciaga is *expensive*. Like, ridiculously so. I mean, you could buy a decent used car for the price of some of their jackets. So, if you can get the vibe, the *look*, without emptying your savings account, I’m not gonna judge. I’m actually kinda impressed.
I guess it all boils down to personal preference. Do you need the clout of the label? Or are you happy just rocking the *aesthetic*? For me? Probably the latter. I mean, I’m not above finding a good dupe or, you know, something that’s “inspired by” Balenciaga. I’m all for finding a good deal and if it makes me feel good, who cares, right? Just, like, maybe don’t go around telling everyone it’s the real thing. That’s just… tacky. And a little bit embarrassing, tbh.
