First things first, these things ain’t cheap. Let’s just get that out of the way. You’re not gonna find one for the price of, say, a trip to the pub (well, *maybe* a really *short* trip to the pub). BUT, and this is a big but, they often come with a 10-year warranty, which, let’s face it, is longer than most of us will even *keep* a chair, let alone use it. Plus, that warranty kinda screams “we’re pretty confident this thing won’t fall apart on you.”
Now, where to actually *buy* one in Aus? That’s the real question. You could go directly to a dealer, which, according to some of the stuff I’ve been snooping around on, is probably the most reliable way to get the real deal (and not some knock-off that looks the same but feels like sitting on a brick). These guys usually know their stuff and can even show you the ropes on how to adjust it properly, ’cause trust me, there are *a lot* of adjustments.
Speaking of adjustments, apparently, it’s like, *the* chair for adapting to basically any body type. Which is good news for all of us uniquely shaped humans out there. There’s even videos showing you how to tinker with all the levers and knobs (and there *are* a lot). I’m pretty sure I’d spend the first week just messing with the settings trying to find the perfect position. I’d probably end up making it *worse*, tbh.
Then there’s the Gumtree option. Hey, you might find a steal! But, you gotta be careful, right? Make sure you check it out *in person* before handing over your hard-earned cash. Nobody wants to end up with a chair that’s been through the wars and smells faintly of someone’s old cat. And, uh, “reconditioned” can mean anything, can’t it? Just saying.
And then there’s the question of whether to go for new or, well, less-than-new. New’s obviously the safest bet, especially if you’re worried about that warranty thing. Plus, you get that sweet, sweet “new chair” smell (do chairs even *have* a smell? I dunno, but I’m imagining it’s good). But a reconditioned one *could* save you some serious dosh. Hmmm…tough call.
