You see ’em everywhere. Nordstrom, Farfetch, even Macy’s, bless their heart. Everyone’s trying to sell you the dream. The *dream* being, obvs, that if you just drop a few (or, you know, a *lot*) of dollars on a Saint Laurent tote or maybe, if you’re feeling *extra* fancy, a Hermes Birkin (Good luck finding one of those, btw. Seriously.), your life will suddenly be…better? More complete? More Instagrammable? I dunno.
And then there’s the whole “authentic” thing. Like, you *gotta* be careful out there. Cause some of these “deals” are just…scary. That “100% Authentic Hermes Bags” thing? Yeah, I’d still be super suspicious. I’ve heard horror stories, lemme tell ya. Like, Aunt Mildred got scammed BAD on what she thought was a Chanel. Turns out, it was more like a “Chanel-ish” situation. Real sad.
Honestly, the whole thing feels kinda…overwhelming. So many choices! Totes, chain wallets, shoulder bags, clutches, backpacks… Like, how’s a girl supposed to choose? It’s like being bombarded with options, and suddenly you feel like you need ALL OF THEM. Which, clearly, is not financially sound. Especially with the cost of, like, groceries these days.
And SSENSE? Like, what even *is* SS25? Is that a typo? I’m so confused.
But, okay, I gotta admit…there *is* something about a really well-made bag. Like, the kind where you can *feel* the quality, you know? Harvey Nichols is talking about “iconic names in luxury,” and yeah, there’s a reason those names are iconic. It’s not just about the brand, it’s about the craftsmanship, the materials…the *je ne sais quoi*. But even *that* doesn’t necessarily justify the prices, right? Right?!
I mean, sure, having a designer bag might make you stand out (or, you know, just blend in with everyone else who also has a designer bag), but does it *really* change your life? I’m leaning towards “probably not.” Unless it’s some kind of magical Mary Poppins bag that can hold, like, infinite snacks and a functioning espresso machine. Then, maybe. But until then, I think I’ll stick with my perfectly functional (and way less expensive) bag that I got on sale. And maybe treat myself to a fancy coffee instead. Priorities, people!
