First off, lemme just say, the name “Navitimer” itself is kinda cool. I mean, it just *sounds* impressive, doesn’t it? Like something out of a sci-fi movie or somethin’. It’s got that “adventure” vibe.
Anyway, according to what I’ve been seeing (and, you know, a quick Google search), it’s all about this slide rule bezel thingy. Honestly, I haven’t even *tried* to figure out how to use it properly. I guess pilots back in the day needed to calculate, like, fuel consumption and rate of climb and all that jazz. Me? I’m more likely to be calculating how many slices of pizza I can eat before I regret it. But hey, it *looks* cool, right? That intricate bezel just screams “I’m a sophisticated timepiece, even if you have absolutely no clue what I do.”
Then you’ve got the different models. The GMT version… that’s kinda tempting. Being able to track multiple time zones is def useful, esp if you’re always jetting off on fancy vacations (unlike me, stuck here writing this). I saw something about a Navitimer Automatic GMT 41… which, I gotta say, 41mm is a nice size. Not too chunky, not too dainty. Just right.
And the sheer number of Navitimers on Chrono24? 1,439 used ones alone! That’s… a lot. It kinda makes you wonder where all these watches have *been*, y’know? Like, what kinda adventures have they seen? Or were they just sitting in a drawer somewhere, unloved and unused? Makes you think.
There’s a 41mm automatic model that comes in black. I personally dig the black face. Seems like it’s the most faithful to the original design. That’s just my opinion, of course. But hey, it’s *my* opinion, and I’m stickin’ to it! Plus, for about $33,200… uh, yeah, maybe I’ll stick to admiring it from afar. Ouch.
